Job Description

We’re looking for a creative video editor with a strong understanding of women’s fashion, social content, and storytelling to help turn raw footage into high-performing Meta ads, Instagram Reels, and TikToks. This is not simply a video-cutting role. We need someone who understands why certain fashion content gets a woman to stop scrolling, keep watching, connect with a product, and ultimately purchase. Experience in women’s fashion is required, with swimwear, intimates, activewear, or fit-focused apparel experience strongly preferred. About Hanakini Swim Hanakini Swim is a women’s swimwear and resortwear brand focused on curve-friendly fits, thoughtful design details, premium fabrics, versatility, and confidence. Our content blends: - Elevated fashion / luxury - Founder-led storytelling - Native social content - Product education - Fit and styling - UGC / try-ons - Performance creative We already have proven video frameworks that convert. Initially, we want someone who can study what already works, understand why it works, and create strong new iterations within that language. As the relationship develops, we’d love this person to become more creatively involved — suggesting hooks, spotting unused footage, and helping develop new content frameworks. What You’ll Be Editing Content may include: - Try-on videos — one of our strongest converting formats - Founder voiceovers and stories - Product / fit education - “How to wear it” and styling content - Fabric and construction details - UGC / customer-style hauls - Unboxing - Behind-the-scenes, factory, and design-process footage - Collection-development stories - Short-form Meta ads - TikTok / Instagram Reels - 30–60 second brand storytelling Typical content ranges from 10–15 second performance ads to 30–60 second storytelling videos, with the goal of intelligently repurposing strong content across Meta, TikTok, and Instagram. You should understand: - Strong 1–3 second hooks - Retention, pacing, and CTA timing - 9:16 formatting and safe zones - Creating multiple hooks / variations from one concept - The difference between short-term conversion content and longer-term brand-building content - How to make social content feel native without making a premium brand feel cheap Paid Meta experience is a plus, but not required if you have strong social-first fashion experience. Just as important: you should understand what women actually care about when shopping online for fashion and swimwear, including fit, coverage, bust support, cheekiness, adjustability, torso length, compression, fabric feel, styling versatility, and construction details. We want an editor who can spot those details in footage and turn them into the story, rather than waiting for us to point out every useful clip. Storytelling Is a Major Part of the Role Sometimes you’ll receive a clear concept or storyboard. Other times, you may receive several minutes of raw B-roll, founder voiceover, try-on footage, or behind-the-scenes content and need to help identify the strongest story inside it. That might mean turning collection-development footage into a short story about: - Why a fit was redesigned - Why a fabric was chosen - How a print came together - What problem a style solves - What happened behind the scenes We have strong creative direction internally, so this will be collaborative. We primarily need someone who can execute the editing, footage selection, sequencing, pacing, text overlays, and storytelling beautifully. Initiative is highly valued. Eventually, we’d love someone who might say: “I noticed you have an unused try-on clip from this collection that could work really well with a hook similar to X.” Editing + Workflow We currently use CapCut, but Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or another professional workflow is completely fine. Our raw footage library is also being organized, so over time this may include helping establish a simple content system by collection, product, try-on, founder, UGC, BTS, factory, styling, etc. Some raw clips may be several minutes long, so you must be comfortable reviewing footage and identifying the strongest moments. You’re likely a good fit if you: - Have edited content for women’s fashion brands - Understand social-first video - Have strong storytelling instincts - Understand female fashion buying psychology - Notice fit, fabric, styling, and construction details - Know how to create a compelling first 3 seconds - Can balance polished branding with native social content - Work independently and take initiative - Are comfortable receiving feedback and iterating - Can study existing winning content before trying to reinvent the strategy Swimwear experience is strongly preferred. Style references include Cakes Body, Blogilates, Klassy / itsNatalieRogers, primarily for strong hooks, founder-led storytelling, product education, relatability, and clear reasons to care. Starting Scope We’ll begin with a small paid trial project of approximatel
