Job Description
We’re Alts.co, a newsletter and investor community focused on alternative investments: things like film financing, Japanese whisky, private credit and other assets outside the stock market. We host a lot of in-person events and investor trips and film most of them. We want someone who can turn that footage into compelling short-form reels. The trial project is our recent week-long investor trip to Japan. It covered whisky distilleries, sumo, renovated traditional homes and a startup pitch night in Tokyo. We have about 10.5 GB of footage, all vertical. What we’re looking for: We don’t want clips trimmed out of one video. We want an editor who can pull the best moments from across the footage and blend them into something that works as a whole. You might use visuals from one clip with audio or narration from another. Some footage is great and some is rough. Some clips have clean audio and some don’t, and some come with transcripts and some don’t. Part of the job is your judgment on what to use and how to make it land. The trial (fixed price, $250): 3 vertical reels, 30–60 seconds each, for Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts Burned-in captions Our brand assets applied (we’ll send them) One round of revisions Delivered within 5 business days We’ll point you to our favorite full-length videos from the trip as a starting point. Beyond that, finding the moments is up to you. If the trial goes well, we have a steady ongoing need. We run events across the US and internationally throughout the year and want a reliable editor for regular reel production. To apply, please include: Links to 2–3 short-form reels you’ve edited. Ideally at least one was cut from long or imperfect source footage. A sentence or two on how you’d approach a clip with great visuals but poor audio. Your typical turnaround for a batch of 3–5 reels. Applications without reel samples won’t be considered. Skills: Video Editing, Short-Form Video, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, Captioning You can see the videos in Dropbox:
