Job Description

I'm an Australian content creator looking for a talented, creative video editor to help bring my long-form YouTube videos to life. I'm looking for someone who specialises in fast-paced, funny, personality-driven YouTube content, particularly challenge videos, comedic commentary, reactions, experiments and entertainment-style vlogs. Style reference: Ben of the Week, or creators with a similar editing style. I'm not looking for basic cuts and subtitles. I want an editor who can take raw footage and elevate it with creative storytelling, comedic timing and clever editing choices. The Editing Style Think: Fast-paced, engaging edits with strong pacing and audience retention. Comedic zooms, punch-ins, freeze frames and well-timed cuts. Funny sound effects, trending audio, memes and pop-culture references. Creative text overlays, captions, graphics and visual gags. Reaction shots, callbacks, awkward pauses and comedic timing. B-roll, screenshots, screen recordings and relevant visual references. Music that enhances the humour, energy and storytelling. Small background details and hidden jokes that reward attentive viewers. Most importantly, I want someone who understands comedy. Someone who knows when a moment needs a sound effect, when silence is funnier, and when a joke can be enhanced through editing. About the Content My videos will include challenges, experiments, reactions, comedy and lifestyle entertainment. For example, one video involves buying every AI-generated advertisement I see for a week, documenting the experience, testing the products and reacting to the results. The content is primarily aimed at an English-speaking audience, so a strong understanding of Australian, American and British humour, internet culture, sarcasm and current online trends is important. What I'm Looking For Proven experience editing long-form YouTube comedy, challenge or entertainment videos. Strong comedic instincts and an understanding of YouTube audience retention. The ability to independently identify funny moments and elevate them through editing. Excellent pacing and storytelling skills, including knowing when to slow down. Confidence using overlays, memes, sound design, motion graphics and creative transitions. Strong English comprehension, including slang, sarcasm and cultural references. Attention to detail and consistency across an entire video. Good communication and openness to feedback. Ability to work collaboratively and develop a consistent editing style for my channel. Experience editing content similar to Ben of the Week is a major plus. What You'll Receive Raw camera footage and supporting clips. A general video concept and creative direction. References for the editing style. Feedback and guidance throughout the editing process. I'm looking for someone who can also bring their own ideas to the table rather than needing instructions for every cut, joke or effect. How to Apply Please include: Your portfolio: Links to 2–3 long-form YouTube videos you've personally edited that best demonstrate this style. Comedy, challenges and entertainment content are strongly preferred. Your role: Briefly explain what you were responsible for in those videos. Your favourite editing reference: Share a creator or video whose editing style you admire and explain why. Your rates: Your typical rate for editing a 10–20 minute YouTube video, including revisions. Your turnaround time: How long would you typically need to edit a video of this length? Shortlisted applicants may be invited to complete a paid editing test using a short section of footage. I'm hoping to find someone for an ongoing collaboration, not just a one-off project. If you love YouTube comedy, understand internet humour and genuinely enjoy making videos funnier through editing, I'd love to see your work!
