Job Description
I'm the creator of The Unconventional Man, a YouTube channel focused on entertaining cultural commentary, exposing contradictions, and challenging conventional thinking. I'm looking for a long-term content researcher with exceptional instincts for discovering entertaining footage across American internet culture. This is not a generic research, scriptwriting, or video editing position. ### About the channel The Unconventional Man combines entertainment, humor, cultural commentary, and critical thinking. My approach is to take something people are already interested in—a controversial statement, a ridiculous argument, an unexpected confrontation, or a recognizable personality—and reveal something interesting that viewers may have overlooked. Sometimes that's hypocrisy. Sometimes it's a contradiction. Sometimes it's an uncomfortable truth. And sometimes it's simply something so absurd that it's impossible not to laugh. The goal is to entertain first, then give viewers something they didn't see before. I'm not looking for someone to develop philosophical arguments for me. I need someone who understands what makes footage entertaining and worth reacting to. ### What I'm looking for Someone deeply familiar with American YouTube culture, popular podcasts, livestreams, influencers, internet controversies, debates, and viral moments. You should naturally recognize content that makes people stop scrolling because something surprising, ridiculous, funny, controversial, or unexpected is happening. I'm especially interested in: - Recognizable internet personalities with established audiences - Entertaining debates and confrontations - Ridiculous or unintentionally funny statements - Contradictions, hypocrisy, and unexpected admissions - Controversial opinions that provoke curiosity or disagreement - Viral cultural moments with strong reaction potential - Interesting exchanges that reveal something people may have overlooked I'm open to a wide variety of subjects. Entertainment value matters more than fitting into one particular topic or ideology. My primary audience is American, so familiarity with American internet culture is essential. ### Your responsibilities - Independently discover entertaining footage across YouTube, TikTok, X, Reddit, podcasts, and livestreams. - Identify specific moments worth reacting to, rather than simply providing entire videos. - Provide original source links and precise timestamps. - Include a brief explanation of what makes each clip entertaining or interesting. - Prioritize quality, recognizable personalities, and strong audience appeal. - Proactively identify emerging controversies, personalities, and viral moments. ### Work structure This is intended to become a long-term weekly collaboration. Initially, I'm looking for approximately 10–15 carefully selected clips per week, generally ranging from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, with flexibility for exceptional material. We'll begin with a small paid trial to determine whether your instincts match the channel's needs. ### Who would be a great fit? You might already spend hours watching American YouTube commentary, podcasts, livestreams, debates, and internet controversies. You understand the difference between something that's merely trending and something that's genuinely entertaining to watch. You don't need to agree with my opinions or share my worldview. You need excellent judgment about what makes compelling reaction content. ### To apply, please answer these three questions: 1. Which five American YouTube personalities, podcasters, commentators, or internet creators do you regularly watch, and why? 2. What separates a genuinely entertaining reaction clip from an ordinary trending video? 3. Find three actual video clips you believe would make excellent reaction content for my channel. Include original links, timestamps, and one or two sentences explaining your choices. Generic applications without these answers will not be considered. Paid trial available. Long-term opportunity for the right researcher.
