Job Description
I'm the founder of a growing golf brand in the U.S., and I'm looking for a talented short-form video editor to help turn my raw founder footage into engaging, story-driven Instagram Reels. Most videos will be around 45–60 seconds and will typically start with footage of me speaking directly to camera. I'll provide the raw footage, script, and access to brand assets/B-roll when needed. However, I'm NOT looking for someone who simply cuts out pauses, adds captions, throws in my B-roll, and calls it done. I'm looking for an editor with strong creative judgment who understands storytelling, pacing, hooks, retention, music, and how to keep a short-form video visually interesting. I want you to bring your own creativity to the edit. If you think a section needs additional B-roll, a screenshot, graphic, sound effect, music, animation, screen recording, or another visual element, I want you to recognize that and add it. You should also be comfortable sourcing appropriate external B-roll or visual assets when it makes the story better rather than relying entirely on what I provide. I can also provide examples of videos and editing styles I like so you have a strong reference for the direction I'm going for. The goal is simple: I want to eventually be able to send you my raw footage + script and trust you to turn it into an engaging finished video without me having to tell you where every cut, B-roll clip, or visual should go. ### About the content Our product is a golf glove, so a lot of our content is built around founder-led storytelling rather than simply showing the product. Topics might include how I started the company, mistakes I've made building the brand, how our products are made, what makes them different, customer stories, our mission and giveback, industry recognition, and the behind-the-scenes reality of building a golf brand. The editing should help tell that story. I'm looking for videos that feel orgranic, natural, fast-moving, and engaging without being obnoxiously over-edited. Think strong visual storytelling—not random effects just for the sake of keeping something on screen. ### Project details - Typical finished video: 45–60 seconds - Format: Vertical 9:16 - Rate: $100 per finished video - Project-based/freelance work - Potential for consistent future projects if we're a great fit - I'll provide raw footage, scripts, brand assets, and creative references - You should be comfortable sourcing additional appropriate visuals/B-roll when needed ### To apply Please send me 3–5 examples of short-form videos you've personally edited that best represent your storytelling ability. Founder-led, personal brand, DTC/e-commerce, or talking-head content is preferred, but I'm mainly looking for great editing and storytelling. Quick note: Just so I know you've actually read this job post, please start your proposal with the words “cabretta.” If your proposal doesn't start with that word, I won't consider the application. Also tell me: 1. Your typical turnaround time for a 45–60 second video. 2. What editing software you use. 3. Whether you're comfortable sourcing additional B-roll/visual assets when needed. 4. How you approach an edit when you're given talking-head footage, a script, and a folder of brand assets. If it looks like a good fit, I'd like to start with one paid $100 test video and go from there.
