Job Description

I’m looking for a talented YouTube editor to create polished, professional talking-head videos for Lessen, a platform focused on helping people understand and change problematic sports-betting behavior. The videos will combine educational content with cultural commentary about sports betting. The audience is primarily men ages 18–30. I will provide: Organized talking-head footage The finished script B-roll, screenshots, tweets, memes and source material AI-generated footage when needed Timestamped editing instructions Editing and style references Brand assets Clear feedback You will be responsible for: Removing mistakes, dead space and unnecessarily long pauses Creating natural, engaging pacing Adding clean jump cuts, punch-ins and occasional zooms Placing the provided B-roll, screenshots, memes and screen recordings Creating clean text animations, callouts and simple motion graphics Adding appropriate background music and sound effects Lowering and raising music naturally around dialogue Cleaning and balancing the audio Applying basic color correction Adding occasional transitions when they improve the video Exporting the final video in high-quality 16:9 YouTube format Providing the editable project file Most videos will be approximately 6–10 minutes long. I do not want an overly edited TikTok style with constant captions, random effects or aggressive zooms. The editing should feel modern, intentional and professional—similar to a well-produced YouTube commentary or documentary-style video. The visuals should support what is being said instead of distracting from it. Budget and ongoing work: The target budget is approximately $75–$125 per finished video, depending on quality, complexity and experience. This can become consistent weekly or biweekly work for the right person. The first editor selected will also help establish a reusable editing style and project template for future Lessen videos. Before assigning a full video, I will hire selected finalists for a paid 60–90 second test edit. The test budget will be approximately $40. Every finalist will receive the same footage and instructions. Requirements: Experience editing talking-head, commentary, documentary or video-essay content Strong understanding of pacing and viewer retention Good judgment with B-roll, music and sound effects Ability to create clean, restrained motion graphics Reliable communication Ability to follow detailed instructions Willingness to provide editable project files Ability to complete most videos within 3–5 days Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro Experience using AI-generated B-roll or tools such as Higgsfield is helpful but not required. To apply, please include: Two examples that most closely match the style described above. Your fixed price for a 6–10 minute video when all footage and most B-roll are provided. Your normal turnaround time. The editing software you use. Whether you will provide the editable project files. Confirmation that you are willing to complete a paid test edit. A short explanation of how you would keep a talking-head video engaging without overediting it. Please begin your application with the word LESSEN so I know you read the complete job description. I am looking for someone who wants to develop a consistent long-term editing relationship and improve the channel’s visual style over time.
