Job Description

I’m looking for a reliable video editor to work with me long-term on content for The Accounting Nerds, a bookkeeping and financial advisory company focused on helping business owners make better growth decisions. This is an ongoing monthly role, not a one-time project. ### What You'll Be Editing The content will primarily include: - Talking-head educational/business videos - Short-form content for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, etc. - Long-form YouTube videos - Recorded conversations where I break down financial reports with business owners - Workshop and speaking-event footage - Clips pulled from longer videos and conversations The content is centered around business, finance, entrepreneurship, bookkeeping, and helping business owners understand their numbers. ### Expected Monthly Volume The target is approximately: - 40 short-form videos per month - 4 long-form videos per month That's roughly 10 shorts + 1 long-form video per week. Most short-form videos will come from content I have already recorded, including talking-head videos, longer conversations, and workshops. ### Editing Style I'm NOT looking for someone to overload every video with effects. I want editing that feels clean, modern, professional, engaging, and fast-paced when appropriate. For short-form content, this may include: - Clean cuts and pacing - Professional captions/subtitles - Punch-ins/zooms where appropriate - B-roll - Relevant graphics, screenshots, or visual callouts - Sound effects and music when they improve the video - Strong visual emphasis on important statements - Consistent branding Long-form content should feel polished and engaging while still being professional. You'll need to know when to cut between speakers, screen recordings, financial reports, presentations, B-roll, and other supporting visuals. Because some of my content discusses financial concepts and KPIs, being able to creatively visualize numbers, percentages, charts, or key ideas is a major plus. ### Workflow I want this to become a simple recurring system. I'll provide organized raw footage and brand assets. I also already have a library of sound effects, Premiere Pro templates, After Effects templates, and other editing assets that you can use. I have AI editing tools available as well that can automatically help remove duplicate takes and cut silences to speed up the editing process. I'm not expecting the editor to build everything from scratch. I want you to take advantage of the tools and assets available to work efficiently while focusing your time on the creative side of the edit. You'll edit the content, submit it for review, handle reasonable revisions, and deliver the final approved files. As we work together, I want you to learn the brand and editing style so less direction is needed over time. Communication and consistency are extremely important to me. If you're going to miss a deadline, communicate it early. ### Compensation Budget: $400/month fixed Please only apply if you're comfortable with the monthly budget and expected volume listed above. I'm looking for someone interested in a long-term working relationship. As the brand and content operation grows, there may be opportunities for the role and compensation to grow as well. ### What I'm Looking For You should be comfortable with: - Adobe Premiere Pro - Adobe After Effects - Short-form social media editing - Long-form YouTube editing - Captions and motion graphics - B-roll and visual storytelling - Working independently once a style has been established - Consistently meeting deadlines Experience editing business, finance, educational, podcast, or personal-brand content is a plus. ### How to Apply Please include: 1. A brief introduction about yourself. 2. 2–3 examples of your best short-form edits. 3. 1–2 examples of your best long-form edits. 4. What software you primarily edit with. 5. Confirmation that you're comfortable with $400/month for approximately 40 shorts + 4 long-form videos. Please start your proposal with the word "NERD" so I know you actually read the full job description. ### Trial Edit Before selecting the long-term editor, I plan to give shortlisted candidates a sample piece of my own footage to edit. Your portfolio matters, but I especially want to see what you can do with my content and brand style. If you're creative, dependable, communicate well, and want consistent monthly editing work, I'd like to hear from you.
